Weather forecasts shape more than daily plans; timely weather information is crucial for energy producers, insurers and transport operators to plan around changing conditions. A global forecast can show a storm taking shape, but decisions about solar farms, shipping routes or insured property depend on what happens locally. NVIDIA Earth-2 gives developers and researchers a […]
Governments need modern solutions to serve the public while keeping sensitive information under their control. Open models provide a path forward, letting governments evaluate them, adapt them to local languages and public services, run them on infrastructure they control, apply their own safeguards and keep sensitive data within controlled environments. Some open models go further, […]

Abstract: Simulating economic responses at society scale requires agents whose decisions reflect household circumstances and the effects of earlier actions. We introduce S$^2$-MAS, a society-scale multi-agent simulation framework built on 500 million synthetic household personas grounded in real-survey data. Its Genese engine separates decisions from state updates, while reusable financial scenarios and application ledgers track consumption, cash, debt and payments. Sharp-421m-mlx, a compact decision model trained with SFT + RLCD on 2.93 million examples, achieves 74.55% accuracy and 38.37% question-macro F1 in consumer financial-choice scenarios, outperforming Jev 1.13 and GLM-5.3-Flash on both measures. We evaluate eight financial task families and simulate 12 million distinct household agents in paired purchase-funding conditions. Jointly raising purchase goals and approved credit limits increases consumption, with responses differing across age and income groups. Education, employment and household-size differences persist after age--income standardization and mainly reflect transitions from deferral to purchase. Asset and debt groups differ in cash drawdown, repayment and closing debt. A 24-month panel varies purchase goals under a common credit product, with repayment and arrears updating subsequent offers. S$^2$-MAS links heterogeneous household decisions to evolving consumption, cash and repayment paths, supporting economic experiments across household groups, population scales and time horizons.

Abstract: Long-horizon agents must learn heterogeneous capabilities from interleaved trajectories. Updating shared parameters to learn new capabilities can degrade previously acquired ones, resulting in catastrophic forgetting. As a trajectory unfolds, different stages may require different capabilities, yet conventional joint training and static adapter merging maintain a fixed parameter configuration throughout execution. We introduce WeAct (Weight-level Internal Actions), which trains independent capability-specific LoRA adapters over a frozen backbone and adds adapter selection to the agent's action space. These internal actions use the model's native tool-calling interface for on-demand capability composition in a shared context. Across eight deep-research benchmarks, Qwen3-32B with WeAct improves average accuracy by 6.2% relative to full fine-tuning counterparts despite using less compute, and by 27.5% relative to the strongest static LoRA-merging method. WeAct also supports modular continual adaptation, by adding a new code computation adapter to expand the agent's capabilities and updating the existing writing adapter to improve report quality. Both updates leave the backbone and other adapters unchanged, supporting modular continual adaptation in agents.

Abstract: Fine-tuning large language models (LLMs) on downstream tasks often weakens their previously aligned safety behavior, creating an inherent trade-off between task adaptation and safety preservation. Existing approaches attempt to mitigate this issue by identifying safety-relevant neurons, layers, or update directions in the original parameter space. However, safety-related information is often distributed across many directions in this space, causing downstream updates to overwrite parameters that encode safety behavior. We propose WSR-Tune, a Weight Space Reparameterization-based fine-tuning framework that preserves safety during downstream adaptation. Our approach constructs a safety-conditioned basis and reparameterizes the weight matrices such that safety-relevant information becomes concentrated in a small subset of directions. We then identify safety-critical directions and freeze them in the reparameterized space, while updating the remaining complementary directions for downstream adaptation. By explicitly structuring the parameter space to disentangle safety and task information, our method reduces interference between objectives and enables simultaneous preservation of safety and improvement in downstream performance. Experimental results show that our method achieves a more favorable trade-off between downstream performance and safety retention, demonstrating its effectiveness for reliable LLM fine-tuning.

Abstract: Diffusion Transformers (DiTs) deliver high-fidelity image and video generation, but inference requires many sequential model evaluations. Two acceleration strategies are increasingly important: model compression makes each evaluation cheaper, while adaptive inference avoids selected teacher computation through reuse, forecasting, or speculative execution. Their combination, however, is brittle: directly applying the evaluated adaptive methods to a compressed student can degrade quality, an observed failure mode we call the \textbf{Combination Gap}. We link this gap to a mismatch between pointwise distillation and short-horizon execution: a student trained at teacher states need not remain reliable when its own predictions are chained. We propose \textbf{TamedFlow}, which trains a compressed DiT for this deployed role through cross-architecture feature alignment, a near-identity Velocity Alignment Head, and randomized rollout supervision. At inference, a lightweight Learnable Trajectory Estimator routes completed drafts: accepted drafts bypass the teacher, while rejected drafts roll back and receive one teacher rescue step. Distilling DiT-XL/2 into DiT-B/2, TamedFlow reaches FID $2.58$ at $2.25\times$ measured speedup over DDIM-50 on ImageNet $256\times256$. Ablations support trajectory supervision, and routing controls favor LTE over random decisions at nearly matched latency. Evaluations on ImageNet $512\times512$, MS-COCO, and Latte/FaceForensics extend the empirical scope.

Abstract: Developing coordination policies for complex multi-agent systems relies on either labor-intensive algorithm design or opaque task-specific reinforcement learning. With recent advances in autonomous coding agents, we show that policy search directly in code space offers a compelling third path that combines automated optimization with explicit interpretability. We investigate a human-directed workflow in which coding agents iteratively propose, implement, evaluate, diagnose, and eventually refine algorithms guided by simulation feedback and explicit correctness verification. We conducted two case studies and found that this workflow robustly outperformed any manually engineered solutions. On a challenging map in the 2024 League of Robot Runners competition, a two-day search discovered a policy that exceeds the stronger locally reproduced competition entry by 35.0% on the densest instance and generalizes to unseen map instances. In simulated real-world warehouses with irregular lanes, continuous robot geometry, and asynchronous motion, a week-long search discovered an entirely new class of multi-agent pathfinding algorithm that outperforms a calibrated proprietary solution in throughput by 58.9%. Under stated assumptions, we further prove that the new algorithm is collision-free and completes, in finite time, every accepted goal that is not withdrawn or replaced. Together, the studies show that policy search in code space powered by state-of-the-art coding agents offers a highly competitive path to building real engineering solutions that are both effective and analytically tractable.
